Palate: Seafood Smorgasbord by Clare Crespo from mocoloco
Palate: Seafood Smorgasbord by Clare Crespo
by sabine7 / May 18, 2010
Palate, a group exhibition curated by Zio Fulcher, includes a crocheted seafood smorgasbord by Clare Crespo (how about that catfish po' boy?), a shellfish self-portrait by Jeph Gurecka and tempting blueberry pie by Martha Rich. Based on the premise that cooking is an important form of art and the fact that food then becomes the world's most common medium, Palate unites artists whose oeuvre includes food-based art, or the palette related to the palate.

Paolo Giordano
In keeping with the deconstructed Persian rug trend, Paolo Giordano presented three new carpets for I + I Milan.
Blank space surrounded dots of pattern, traditional prints were broken up by lines and classic carpets took on the air of barcodes in this new work.
Not surprisingly, work by Richard Hutten was also shown by this manufacturer.
The 100 Helmets of THE VADER PROJECT: Plasticgod
One hundred contemporary and urban artists were invited to give Darth Vader's helmet a makeover and the results were astounding. Quite an array of looks were produced, but the headwear of the Sith remains easily recognizable whether adorned by Plasticgod, Gary Baseman, Shag, Dalek, Amanda Visell, Bob Dob, Tim Biskup, Marc Ecko and a host of others. The show has been travelling for four years and will be at Freeman's Auction in Los Angeles in June before moving on to Philly for the auction on July 10. The Vader Project is curated and produced by Dov Kelemer and Sarah Jo Marks of DKE Toys.

Beautiful CRAZY HAIR by CuldeSac and Studio Marisol!
"Our intention is to review the hair subject as a social and cultural element. Why do barristers still use wigs? Why does a woman have her hair done for a special occasion? Let's give emotional value to this aspect as well. Let's wonder why a good hair do could make us feel happier, more beautiful or uglier, better or worse… Let's find the way to transfer this concept into a real object. Several exercises will guide us through this workshop, varying from simple to complex, from obvious to surprising, and from observation to experience." said CuldeSac from www.yatzer.com
